I have just learned of the passing of Charlie and I am most saddened.I have very fond memories of cousin Charlies visits to Hanna Alberta when he and other family members came to visit and of my trips to Ottawa to visit family. Charlies always stood out as a kind and true gentleman.

The moment I found out about your death, I fell into instant shock and grief. I have no words to describe the pain I felt at that moment and the pain I continue to feel of your absence. It was only a day before your death that me and my sister went over to your home to give you some pie and soup we made for you. It is this memory that hurts the most for me because little did I know this would be the last time I would ever see or speak to you again. Dear Dad,
I hope you'll somehow be able to read this letter wherever you are. Since that terrible phone call telling me about your passsing, I've felt nothing but indescriblable pain and loss. I try to stay strong, but when I'm alone, God sees how much I weep. I pray to Him to take away the pain and He helps me, but still, this is a  wound that will take a long time to heal. You were the standard by which all gentlemen should be measured and I was fortunate to have had 43 years with you, in which to learn to be like you. I hope you are proud of me. I know the past two and a half years without Mom have been torture for you and I am glad you're with her again, but your death was so sudden, we didn't have a chance to say goodbye to you. I know you always said that you wished you would die suddenly and quickly like your own mother did and I'm happy that you got your wish. I love you Dad, I know you're in a happy place with Mom.
