Brigitte Komocki

Died peacefully on June 3, 2017 in Ottawa at the age of 93. Brigitte is survived by her three sons, Michael, John and Peter and four grandchildren. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Jan, who passed away 25 years ago. Brigitte was born in 1924 in Sangt Goar, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in 1952 and later settled in Ottawa after residing in Montreal and Toronto. Brigitte was very proud of work accomplishments, being a executive assistant to Deputy Minsters. She shared a passion for travel with her husband John, traveling to the four corners of the globe, including circling Mount Everest at 83 in a Pilatus Porter and trekking in the Kalahari at 86. Above all, she was a devout Catholic who devoted herself to ministries at Holy Cross Parish and volunteered in many community services. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and church community. Visitation at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, on Wednesday, June 7 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 8 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Parish, 685 Walkley Road. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Brigitte’s life.
