I was very  saddened by the news of Bill's passing. At the same time, was very happy to learn that his dream of going back to Lebanon has come true, finally!

Bill's "Long Bomb" Touchdown:
Sad news of the passing of cousin Bill. Bill was one of the kindest men I have known, always with a “how’s it going?” coupled with a gentle grin. My memories of Bill include visiting him at Bill’s No.1 Restaurant, the Kfarmishki Rams, the Hamilton Tiger Cats and Tommy Joe Coffey, the Dallas Cowboys t-shirt he brought me from his trip the US, and Sunday football.
My fondest memory of Bill was one of those Sunday morning games. In the early 80’s a group of guys from our community, young and old, would get together for a game of touch football. Jeffrey, Mike M, Moufid, Uncle Al, Dick, the whole crew… and cousin Bill. At times nothing less than a collection of lunatics, but it was family coming together to play. Bill loved being the big tight end going for the long bomb.
On one of those Sundays, Bill and I were on the same team, me at quarterback and Bill holding the left tight-end position. We were about 40 yards from the end zone. On the snap, the boys started running their patterns, chaos as usual and nobody open. Then I hear Bill’s unmistakable voice “Bobby, I’m open!!!” Bill had run a fly pattern right to the end zone goal line. He was standing alone, with his arms straight up in the air, “Bobby, I’m open!!!”. With a hope and a prayer, I threw to Bill hoping it would be accurate enough to hit him in the hands, but soft enough that he could hold onto it. The ball hit him in the hands. Bill held onto it. He then brought the ball down, staring at it in surprise, like it was new born baby. Bill then remembered to turn and lumber into the end-zone. He smiled and spiked the ball, when everyone from both teams cheered. Bill finally scored his elusive touchdown from the “long bomb.” He was so happy, and I was so happy for him.
As time passed and families grew I saw less of cousin Bill. But when I did it was always with that same gentle grin. Such a kind man who always made my soul smile when I saw him, with him joking “I’ll go deep.” 

Allah yerhamak Ummo, I’m sure none of the boys ever forgot how vibrant you were on Sunday morning football games and how you always lived young! I will never forget how you always took time to entertain the younger generations when visiting Kfarmishky. Too many times to list. I am happy that Uncle Bill was able to get back to Kfarmishky one last time, but sad as I missed him by a couple fo days. He always made the trip better, a
 Sense of humour truly unique. We will miss  you “Umm” as will the whole community I’m sure....rest in peace .

The memories are plentiful and have always been a pleasure to look back on together!!  We will continue to do so  to honour his humour, warmth and generosity!
