Ernesto Savella Ramos, known as “Ernie” to most who knew him, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012 surrounded by his family and companion at Saint Francis Hospital in Federal Way, WA after a sudden and unexpected illness.
Ernesto was born on November 29, 1941 to Serafin and Casimira (Savella) Ramos in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
He married Caridad Naraja on September 18, 1965 in Berkeley, CA.
He graduated from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. He worked in the Othelllo Community Hospital as the Director of the Laboratory from February 11, 1971 to June 30, 2011. He retired after 40 years of service.
He enjoyed traveling and sought to spend time with his grown children and their own families, but he especially longed to watch his five grandchildren play in their school sports.
Although his retirement was short lived, Ernesto had planned on traveling more and hoped to have watched his grandchildren grow up and graduate from college. His hope was to see his grandchildren succeed and start their own lives.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He worked very hard and sacrificed often to provide for his family, but to especially provide for his children by sending them all to college.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Caridad Naraja Ramos, parents Serafin and Casimira Ramos, brother Arnold Savella, sister Rosemerin Agleam and nephew Mario Demapeles. He is survived by his three children and their spouses: Catherine (Lee Aviles), Cheryl (Carlos Gutierrez), and his only son, Ernie James (Lady Lyn Lim). He also had five grandchildren who were all his pride and joy: Jordan and Gabriel Aviles, Michael Gutierrez, Carrie Lyn and Dustin Ramos. He also leaves behind his companion and loving friend, Perlita Serna, brother Ramsey and sisters Virginia, Mercedita, Emma, Nenita, Andrea, Tomasa and Ester, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
Ernesto would have celebrated his 71st birthday on November 29, 2012. On this day his family will celebrate his new life now joined with Jesus Christ. He will be extremely missed, forever loved and respected by many.
