Curt was born on June 13, 1934 in Portland, Oregon to Edgar and Selma (Shuholm) Charlston. The family lived in Battleground, WA where he graduated from high school in 1952. He attended Clark College and graduated with an AA degree. In 1955 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Curt served for four years receiving an honorable discharge in 1958. He attended Washington State College (University) for two years when IBM offered him a job. IBM moved him to Moses Lake where he met Janice (Jan) Chamberlain. IBM gave Curt the opportunity to return to school at Portland State University. While in School Curt would travel to Moses Lake frequently to see Jan. On June 11 1961 they were married in Moses Lake. Curt earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics in 1962. After he graduated IBM moved him to Kingston, NY. In 1965 the Honeywell Corp hired Curt. They moved him to Bellevue, NE then Massachusetts. Curt and Jan wanted to return to the northwest and in 1978 they moved to Othello where Curt worked as a programmer for P.J. Tagares. In 1980 Curt went to work for Hanford as an instrument technician. He worked for several different companies that bid Hanford, Retiring under CH2M Hill in 2005.
Curt was an active member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church serving in many capacities over the years, church council, confirmation teacher, and youth group to name a few. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed spending hour puttering outside in the yard. After he retired he enjoyed being a stay at home dad and husband. He cheered for the Seahawks regardless of their record, as a younger man he liked to hunt pheasant and he always loved the vacations to Seaside Oregon with his family.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Don and Stewart. He is survived by his wife Jan of Othello, 2 daughters Jolene (Dick) Erickson of Davenport, WA and Andrea (Don) Jutila of Green Acres, a sister Marjorie (Ken) Ellertson of Vancouver, WA , 2 brothers Jim (Mona) Charlston of Vancouver, WA and Stan (Karen) Charlston of Gig Harbor, WA. and 4 grandchildren.
