Kathryn E. Scherrer Schrader 93 of Fort Wayne, passed away on August 25, 2022. She was born August 30, 1928 in Fort Wayne. Kathryn was the daughter of the late Karl and Gladys Smith. Kate married T. Eugene Scherrer July 26, 1947 and he preceded her in death. She remarried Donald C. Schrader on December 25, 1996, he preceded her in death. Kate graduated from South Side High school, Class of 1946. She was a past worthy matron of the Poe and Waynedale chapter of the Eastern Star, a 50-year member. Kate was also a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. Kate loved volunteering her time sharing her musical talents especially playing the piano for sing-a-longs at nursing homes. Traveling was her favorite past time. Kate liked trying new recipes and making fluff, puppy chow and overnight cookies for everyone to enjoy. She is survived by her sons, Tom, Bob, and Jake (Eleanor) Scherrer; daughters, Sandy (Terry) Weikel, and Karen (Jim) Bushey; step-children, Linda (Bob) Schussler, Pat Williams, Robert (Lisa) Schrader, and Cindy (Dave) Stevens; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren which she loved spending time with. She was also preceded in passing by her sister, Georgeianna (Jo) Cranson 2004; and step-daughter, Barbara Keyes in 2021. Private memorial services will be held for her family.
