John K. Smith

John K. Smith, 69, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011. He was born on March 26, 1942 in Fort Wayne to the late Noah and Rosalyn (Frye) Smith. He worked for International Harvester for 23 years and later for Roembke Manufacturing for 18 years before retiring in 2002. He was a member at Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but especially spending time with hs grandchildren. Surviving family include his wife, Bev Smith of Fort Wayne; sons, Troy K. “Chelli” Smith of Uniondale, Trent M. Smith of Auburn, Tad J. “Lisa” Smith of Hoagland; 7 grandchildren, Colten, Teagen, Grayson, Grahm, Hadley, Ella, Trevor; siblings, Bill, Jim, Rick Smith, and Deb Robins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Smith.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest, 9909 Wayne Trace, Ft. Wayne with calling one hour prior to services. Pastor Kyle Krueger will be officiating services. A gathering of friends and family will be Monday, June 13, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ossian. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church-Soest or Worship for Shut-ins.
