Helen V. Middleton, 100, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 7, 2013. She was born on July 5, 1913 in Adams County to the late Floyd Milo and Ada Mae (Shoaff) Shirk. She retired as a registered nurse from Lutheran Hospital in 1976. Surviving family include her children, Marilyn Gallaway and Jim (Cindy) Middleton; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren; and daughter in law, Claudia Middleton. Beside her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Thomas K. Middleton; son, Thomas “Jerry” Middleton; sister, Dortha Neal; brother, Doyle Shirk; and son in law Ron Gallaway. A funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, November 15, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Living Faith Missionary Church.
