Douglas L. Miller, 59, of Ossian, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014. He was born April 2, 1955 the son of Duane and Rosemary Miller. He graduated from Norwell H.S. in 1973. He retired from the Indiana Air National Guard after 33 years of service as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was a Purple Heart recipient after being injured during his second tour in Iraq. He also served in Honduras and Saudi Arabia. He was co-owner of D&D Auctions and a licensed auctioneer for many years. He worked at Allen County Motors, Reimschisel Ford, and Navistar. Doug was a self-taught artist known for his talent in recreating images of airplanes, animals, landscapes, and portraits. He enjoyed Detroit Tigers baseball and watching Andy Griffith shows. Surviving are his mother, Rosemary; wife, MaryBeth Miller; sisters, Stephanie (Jerry) Beck, Cindy Miller, and Sue Hupp; stepdaughters, Jennifer Pulver and Angela Petrie; nieces, Stacy (Scott) Clupper and Katie (Ryan) Yoars; nephew, Adam (Macon) Beck; and five great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his father, Duane. Funeral service is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill Street, Ossian with visitation beginning at 3:00 p.m. "The family would like to thank Family Life Care and Genesis Health Care-New Haven."
