It is with great sadness that the family of William James (Jim) Spicer, announce his passing at the age of 86, on Friday, March 20th at his residence in Whitby. Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Clare. He was a wonderful father to Carol (Harvey, deceased) Ross of Whitby, Margaret (Joe) Bryson of Kitchener, Paul (Bernadette) Spicer of Bowmanville, John (Ingrid) Spicer of Aurora, Laura Spicer of Whitby and his late son, David. Grandfather to Shannon (John), Steven (Heather), Tarah (Andrew), Kevin, Julie (Matthew), Sarah (Gerard), Jennifer, Doreen , Kyle, Noah, Jade, Quinn and Andrew (Debbie). He will also be lovingly remembered by his great grandchildren, Alexandra, Emma, Lucas, Grace, Delaney, Madeline, William, John, Alexander, Benjamin, Jacob, Sarah, Bryson, Joseph, Anna and Dillon. He will be greatly missed by his sister Joan McDermott, and his many extended family members. Predeceased by his parents John and Catherine, his brothers Len and Eddie and his sister Mary. Jim was a long time member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 13, and served in the Royal Canadian Navy during peace time, stationed in Shearwater, Nova Scotia. He retired from Scarborough Hydro 31 years ago. He loved the cottage, woodworking, crafts and small projects. The family is ever thankful for the wonderful care given to Jim by Sharon, Diana and Sherry. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Wednesday, March 25th, from 7pm-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at HOLY FAMILY CHURCH (91 Ribblesdale Drive, Whitby) on Thursday, March 26th at 10:30am, followed by internment at Resurrection Cemetery.
