Stan was a great friend to my mother, Mercedes Baker, at The Court at Brooklin. He invited her to join the choir at The Court. 

They shared some history both being British and also having come to Canada and lived in Montreal West, so had some stories to share. 

Stan showed his great empathy, by phoning my Mum, when she was feeling poorly and invited her to sit at his table (a great honour at The Court). She always was motivated to be involved when Stan called and I am most grateful for that.

I spoke to Stan just a week or so before his death. I was getting some coffee in the Dining Room and he came up to me with his ski poles in hand - he said it helped with his posture keeping him straight. No walker for Stan, that's for sure.

Everyone who came into contact with Stan was better for the experience. I count myself among those fortunate people.

Having just come away his memorial service, I am uplifted by those wonderful voices of the Durham Philharmonic Choir. 

What a wonderful legacy he has left!

I worked for Stan Quinn at CBC Engineering Headquarters in Montreal where he was head of the Operations Development, later Strategic Engineering Dept. He was a very close friend of my father Rodger Ross of CBC Toronto, who knew him for many years and held him in the highest esteem.

I met Stanley 4 years ago when my parents moved into The Court at Brooklin. I live in BC and whenever I visited,  Stanley invited me to have a meal at his table and catch up. He kindly taught my mother how to email on the residents' computer so she could keep in touch with me daily and this gave her so much happiness. He allowed me to read his self published auto biography which gave me a window into his interesting and accomplished life. He was a wonderful gentleman who I know will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure and honour of knowing him. My condolences to his family.

Stan Quinn was a name I saw on paperwork when I started with the CBC in 1981.  As head of an engineering department, he approved projects I later worked on to implement.

In the fall of 2010 I had the pleasure of meeting him in person when Mom and Dad moved into "The Court at Brooklin".  My parents and Stan quickly established a friendship.  On my biannual trips to Ontario, it was fun enjoying meals together, talking about the old days and getting him up to date with the current.

Stan liked meeting people and hearing of the interesting things they were doing.  He was kind, welcoming,  charming, and always a gentleman.

This January I'll miss his "so what is new at the CBC Phil?"  Fond memories Stan.

In November 1971, Stanly Quinn accepted my application to join his department (The Lab) at Engineering Headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.  As a relatively new immigrant to Canada, his encouragement and support was an important factor in my progressing within the corporation.
 
Stanly was very organized and systematic in his approach to project management.  I remember his colored chart of projects' progress which I applied later when I had to deal with similar activities.
Thank you, Stan, I will never forget you. My sincere condolences to his family.  May God bless him and treat him the way he treated others like me.

I met Stanley through being a member of the Durham Philharmonic Choir. He was such a friendly, engaging, interesting, connected, intelligent and refined gentleman.  I will miss him very much!  God keep you, Stanley!

Stan Quinn was a true gentleman.  He was one of the most curious people I have met in the last 75 years. He wanted to find out about all the latest trends in technology and science and to discover if there was a fit with broadcasting and how the CBC could use it.
Each morning he started work early and those who arrived in the “early” group were often in his office discussing his ideas and overnight findings. We all knew that any idea which survived until the end of those sessions would become work for us at CBC Engineering.
These last few years Stan discovered the Internet and he was always exploring ideas and sending them on to his friends. In that sense he never retired from exploration of science and music, his other great love.
Stan will be missed by all who knew him because he was, above all, a gentle man.

Ray Anderson

In 1972, Stan Quinn asked me to join his technical team at the Engineering Headquarters of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.  As a fresh graduate, with only a few months of broadcasting experience, it was suddenly very humbling to be in the company of so many bright and clever people.  Stan had a knack for recognizing potential in people, training them, encouraging them, and letting them stand on their own feet.  I count myself supremely lucky to have briefly been included in his exceptional working environment and to be but a small part of his visionary work in technology.  
Today, in a world where a 6-year-old can make a video of their cat and instantly send it to grandma with a device kept in their pocket, we all too often forget the legacy of hard work by the unsung heroes of Canadian radio and television broadcasting.  Stan Quinn was one of those heroes, and certainly one of mine.
Thank you, Stan, we will never forget you.  My sincerest condolences to family and close friends, and also to those colleagues who held him in such high regard.  May God bless and keep dear Stan.

Stanley Quinn was, undoubtedly, my closest friend in "The Court at Brooklin"  His demise has cast a gloomy shadow over the many residents, which only the passage of time can partially heal. We trust that he who used his melodious voice to praise the Lord in English and Welsh, may now be gracing the air-waves of Glory with his sonorous voice as never before.  Fair thee well, Stan.
