It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sean Douglas Gazey on October 11, 2024, at the age of 54. Sean was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sheila Gazey (nee Hayes), and was preceded by his cherished father, George.
Sean will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Kristyn (Reid) and Heather (Alasdair), who were the pride and joy of his life.
He is warmly remembered by his brother, David (Judi), and sisters, Adele (Andrea) and Janet (Paul). Sean was predeceased by his brother, Drew, in 2018 (wife Patricia, son Colin (Angela) and Dave.
A heartfelt thank you to Jillian (Troy), Xander, and Kaia, who were like a second family to the Gazey Family.
Thank you to the incredible staff at Hillsdale for their wonderful care and attention to Sean during his time there.
Sean had an infectious zest for life. He was passionate about drawing, using his creativity to create art that resonated with many. An all-around athlete, staring with hockey at the age of 4 and then soccer at age 5, Sean played high school football and later embraced sledge hockey, playing for the Durham Steelhawk Sledge Hockey team. His love for sports extended to soccer, where his guildwood soccer team won the Canadian under 18 National Championship. Sean also dedicated himself to coaching all of Kristyn's soccer teams, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship among young players.
In addition to his athletic pursuits, Sean had a deep affection for dogs, often finding joy in their companionship. He was also a champion in the fight against type 1 diabetes, raising awareness and supporting those affected by the condition.
Sean’s warm spirit, passion for life, and unwavering love for his family and friends will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
