It is with truly broken hearts we announce the passing of Maude Mary Jones (81) of Whitby, Ontario, on December 29, 2024. Maude passed away peacefully at The Village of Taunton Mills, with her close family by her side, where she had lived for the past 2.5 years. Maude is predeceased by her parents Bernard and Cecilia Kenney of Conche Newfoundland. Maude leaves behind her younger sisters, Alice, Jose, predeceased by her sister Marie. Maude was a loving wife to Leonard Jones with whom she shared over 60 years with. Loving mother to Wayne (Karen), Darren, Leonard (Lori), Kenneth (Crystal), Eugene (Belinda). She will be dearly missed by her Grandchildren Arthur, Katie, MaKayla, Michael, Tyler, Daniel, Beckie, Mich, KJ, Billy, Victoria, Vanessa. Loving memories will be shared with her Great Grandchildren Elijah, Dawson, Skyler, Fayth, Zoey, Avery, Hunter, Hayden, Phoenix, Ela, Atlas, Leo.
After Maude and Leonard married, they settled in a small town in Newfoundland. Halfway Point became where they raised their family. Maude was well known to everyone in the small town. In September of 2019 as a family, we decided to move Maude and Leonard to Ontario, to be closer to her Children and Grandchildren. She loved the routine visits from her family. Maude had a love for Bingo and was always happy to attend weekly. She continued her love for Bingo within Taunton Mills. She was part of the residence committee as well. Always happy to improve and help others.
On October 24, 2024, we learned of Maude’s diagnosis of stage 4 colon cancer. She fought so hard, for several weeks with family by her side, it was time to say goodbye. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Village of Taunton Mills for the care she received.
Maude will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a heart of gold, always putting family first.
Visitation will be held at Oshawa Funeral Home located at 847 King St West, Oshawa, Ontario on Friday January 3, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Cremation will take place after the visitation. Maude’s final resting place will be in Newfoundland with her parents, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Maude’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
