September 4th, 1930 – February 12th, 2014
It is with deep regret that the family of Lois announce her demise. Her memory will lovingly remain in the heart of her husband and best friend of 65+ years, George, their son Stephen (Pam), daughter Kelly (Wayne) and grandsons Alex and Adam. Predeceased by her beloved parent Roy Mann and her brothers Jack, Larry and Ray. Lois will long be remembered by all who knew her as creative, generous and hard working. She will occupy a special place in the memory of many as a gentle woman of quiet strength, selflessness and modesty. Her infectious laughter, sense of humour, un-paralleled acts of kindness and her ability to be a friend to everyone will resonate in our hearts. Lois’s favourite saying was “God gave me a brain and expected me to use it and I did!! Thank you Lord!!” As she enjoyed helping others (loved to see the smiles) Lois became involved in many projects including Area Co-ordinator, re: Cancer Campaign, Heart and Stroke Campaign and United Appeal; Convener re: Home and School Fund Raisers and St. Mark’s Church Annual Fund Raiser Ball; First Vice-President at A. McLaughlin Home & School; Founder and Secretary of Brookside Park Neighbourhood Association, and with her love of children, always had time for “Rainy Day” arts & crafts with the neighbourhood children. Lois worked at Elections as District Returning Officer; Assistant Leader, St. Marks GA; Secretary for the Lake Vista Bowling League; active in C.S.A.O now O.P.S.E.U; President for W.P.H & D.C.D.H. Whitby; finally retired from Durham Center for the Developmentally Handicapped as buyer and clothing co-ordinator. She loved them all!! In later years Lois volunteered for the “Meals On Wheels” program through Community Care and enjoyed every moment. She will not be forgotten!! A private service for the immediate family was held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234). In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois’s memory to the Community Care, Oshawa Branch or SickKids Foundation would be appreciated.
God Bless
