WWII Veteran - D-Day
Passed away at the Community Care Nursing Home in Port Perry on Sunday, June 22nd, 2014 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of 62 years of the late Dorothy Shearing. Dear father of Glen, Linda Brown, Judy Hulme, Vic (Jacqueline) and Brad (Veneita). Son of the late John and May Shearing. Brother of the late James (Shirley), Albert (late Sue) the late Victor, June (late Don) and Fred (late Joan). Glen will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Sheila (Mark), Clint (Rachel), Rebecca, Sarah, Matthew, Laura, Victor (Danielle), Nathaniel, Sebastian and Olivia. He will also be missed by his great grandchildren Alexander, Evangeline and Liam. Glen was a veteran of the Second World War. His regiment, The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa, landed on the beaches at Normandy on D-Day and fought in some of the fiercest battles in France including the taking of Caen. He was a proud employee (Diesel Mechanic) of Shell Canada Limited for over 35 years. Visitation will be held at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King Street West (905-721-1234) on Saturday, June 28th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery.
