As she took her final breaths, she was lovingly surrounded by her two daughters and her devoted husband of 26 years. Cindy was born on June 19, 1964, at Oshawa General Hospital to parents, Joan Hubbard and the late Jim Hasey as well as her loving dad, John Hubbard. Cindy was the beloved wife of Robert Devlin and cherished mother of two daughters, Hailey and Sabrina. Recently, Cindy became a new grandmother when the family welcomed Hailey and Aaron's first child, Harlow Batchellor.
After her marriage to Robert on August 30, 1997, Cindy became the cherished daughter-in-law to the now deceased, Henry and Frances Devlin. Cindy was a dear sister to Kelly Hasey (Ivan) and Mike Hasey (Susan) and a cherished sister-in-law to Frances Schissler (Jeff), Karen Lee (James), Henry Devlin, Katherine Devlin and Dolores Devlin. Cindy loved children and she will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins as well as her neighbourhood friends.
Cindy graduated from Central Collegiate in Oshawa and went on to become a business analyst for Canada Life in Toronto where she enjoyed a 20-year long career. She had the opportunity to retire early and stay home with her daughters when they were only 3 and 5. Cindy was a very involved and active parent in her children's upbringing.
In the decade following a silent brain stroke, Cindy began to struggle with dementia. During this time, her husband, daughters, and her sister-in-law, Karen, devoted themselves to caring for Cindy at home where she was always most comfortable. In the summer of 2023, Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer; a disease her mother had earlier fought and overcame. During this, her last fight, Cindy demonstrated that she was still stronger than imagined. Cindy was a true warrior, and she leaves behind a legacy of strength and grace through adversity that her family will cherish forever.
Robert, Hailey and Sabrina wish to warmly thank their community of friends and family and the many incredible nurses, doctors and personal care workers who helped to support the family on this difficult journey. Cindy was at home and at peace in her final hours and for that they are deeply grateful.
