He was born on May 28, 1930 in Edmonton, Alberta. Bruce began his career as a lawyer in Nelson and Victoria, B.C., and then moved to the world of Academica, teaching at the University of Ottawa. During his retirement years, he enjoyed reading, walking, gardening and travelling. He and his wife, RoseMarie ran a successful Bed and Breakfast in Victoria, B.C.
Predeceased by RoseMarie (nee Chisholm) in 2011, Bruce returned to Victoria, and then headed back to Ontario where he spent his final years. He is survived by his six children, Ross (Janine), Jennifer (Hal), Paul (Ingela), Gillian (Rick), Susan (Greg) and Colin (Trish), fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren scattered across the globe.
A man with wry sense of humor who loved to share a good limerick (the cheekier the better), he was always on call for a good toast at family dinners.
A private family memorial service will be held in B.C. in the summer.
We are eternally grateful to the amazing care givers at The Village of Taunton Mills, (Egerton) who treated him with respect and dignity and showered him with love during his last three years.
God speed. If we could think of an appropriate limerick, we would include, however, his humor often bordered on the irreverent side!
