Russell L. Kennedy, age 63, a lifelong resident of the Daytona Beach area, passed away peacefully at Florida Hospital, Thursday, March 19, 2015. Russell was born August 22, 1951 in Washington, D.C. He graduated Mainland High School and went on to work for FPL for 17 years and then the City of South Daytona as a Building Inspector. Russell enjoyed being outside, whether it was on a cruise, riding his motorcycle, at the beach snorkeling or traveling with Lisa, you could find him relaxing under a shade tree with a drink in hand. He loved spending time in the Caribbean, Hawaii, Virgin Islands and Sturgis. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Port Orange. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie Kennedy in 2000. Survivors include Lisa Kennedy, his loving wife of 24 years; daughter Crystal (Randy), Cleveland, OH; brothers, Randy Kennedy, Daytona Beach, FL and Carl Kennedy, Holly Hill, FL; sister, Carol (Whitey) Lake Mary, FL; grandson Luca, Cleveland, OH. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, 305 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange, FL. In lieu of flowers the family has asked to please make donations in Russell’s memory to Florida Hospital Hospice, Daytona Beach.
