Robert Arthur Weidig Sr.

Robert Arthur Weidig, Sr. 92, passed away, Friday, May 23, 2014 at his residence in Palm Coast, FL. Robert was born in Hartford, CT, son of Raymond and Catherine Weidig. He honorably served in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 Navigator. While stationed in England, serving in the 8th division, Robert was shot down on his first two missions. He continued to serve in the Army Reserve, and attained the rank of Lt. Colonel before retiring from the military. He was a 3rd degree mason and with his wife enjoyed traveling throughout the world for over 31 years. Robert also loved to read and watch movies. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years Ruth; son, Robert Jr. and his wife Joyce of Bunnell, FL; daughter, Deborah Heath of Willimantic, CT; grandchildren; Robert III, Randall and Ryan Weidig and Christopher and Timothy Hill; great grandchildren; Megan and Tessa Weidig, Landon Chapin and Anthony Hill and great-great grandchild; Artimus Hill . The family will receive friends Saturday May 31, 2014, 1:00-2:00 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N Nova Rd. Ormond Beach. A life celebration service with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm. Private burial will be in Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL.
