Robert J Hawkins

Robert J. “Bob” Hawkins, 82, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 7, 2011, with his wife, Joan by his side. He was born on January 16, 1929, in Rome, New York, the son of Andrew and Kathleen (French) Hawkins. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Army in May, 1948. He was a graduate of Utica College, Class of 1953. On September 10, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Joan P. Yager at Zion Episcopal Church in Rome, New York.

Robert was employed with the United States Air Force Civilian Service at Griffiss Air Force Base for thirty-one years, retiring in 1984.

Surviving are his wife, Joan P. Hawkins; two sons, John C. Hawkins, of Valrico, Florida and Tim A, Hawkins of Cleveland, New York; three grandchildren, Tara Merkler, Erin Hawkins, and Michael Hawkins, all of Florida; three great-granddaughters, Olivia, Sophia and Tallulah, all of Florida; one sister, Joan VanScoy, of Utah.

A funeral service will be 1:00PM, Friday, November 11, 2011, at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach, FL. The family will receive friends from 12:00PM until the time of service. Interment will follow the service at Volusia Memorial Park, 550 North Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL.
