Raymond was a very devoted husband of almost 60 years to his wife Elizabeth (Betty) as well as a devoted and much loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and his wife Betty relocated to Ormond Beach from Long Island more than 25 years ago to be near family after he retired from the New York Telephone Company. Raymond served in the Army during WWII in Burma, India and China. His decorations included the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, the Association of BellTel Retirees and the World War II Memorial Society. During his retirement he volunteered his time with Meals on Wheels and Halifax Urban Ministries. Raymond had a lifelong passion for bowling, playing the piano and singing as well as ice hockey. He also enjoyed spending time reading the bible, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing pool and bike riding.
Raymond was preceded in death by his grandson Johnny and his sister Rita Bickhardt. He is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Mary Miller (Sandy) of Ormond Beach, son Raymond Kelly (Carmela) of Daytona Beach, daughter Kathleen Fischer of Ormond Beach, and son John Kelly of Daytona Beach. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory 12 grandchildren-Brian(Ashley), Dan, Michael, Jeremy, Joe, Lauren, Meghan, Jonathon, Kevin, Sarah, Amanda and Kathleen as well as 2 great-grandchildren, Christian and Mia.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Halifax Urban Ministries, Meals on Wheels, or Florida Hospital Hospice Care.
A mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday March 24, 2012 at 11:00AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL.
