Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Ellen Donahue, 92, of Port Orange, who passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Sterling House of Port Orange, surrounded by her dear friends, will be held on Wednesday, March 7th at 9:00 am at The Basilica of St Paul, 317 Mullally St., Daytona Beach, FL, followed by Interment in Volusia Memorial Park 550 North Nova RD., Ormond Beach, FL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 6th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Basilica of St Paul. Mary was born on November 20, 1919 in Butte, Montana to the late Henry and Sarah (McLaughlin) Donahue. She was a graduate of Butte Public High School. Mary worked as a Confidential Assistant for the Office of the Secretary in the White House from 1963 to 1984. She was a faithful member of The Basilica of St. Paul in Daytona Beach. Mary was a joy to be with; there was no sweeter sound than to hear her laugh. Her gentleness, patience and kindness were especially devoted to children and animals. She had been under the kindest care of Sterling House, Vitas Hospice, Barbara, Jan, Jolene and Michelle. She is survived by her niece, Ramona Marino; and her 3 grand nieces, Rachel, Sara, and Aimee. She was preceded in death by her sister Catherine Donahue and her brother John Henry Donahue.
