I just learned of his passing. I’m so sorry that I didn’t know sooner. I met Mr Marcum when he became a stand-in principal at CCA. My best memory of him is at our Christmas play. That year, I  was selected to sing the carols (solo & a cappella).  It was both exciting & terrifying, I practiced & panicked the whole time leading up to that play. Throughout it my nerves were at an all time high and I prayed through it’s entirety.  When it ended he made a point to get to me, rushing through handshakes and hugs from lots of people. When he finally got to me, he took my hand and said “You were wonderful, you sang like an angel”.  His words were more than enough but when I looked up at him, there were tears welling up in his eyes. He then said “Promise me you will never stop singing,”! I teared up  too & promised him, I would always sing . I’ve never forgotten how special he made me feel at that moment. I have many memories with him the year he was there but by far, this is my favorite. He was kind and genuine. I feel privileged to have just known him. I still sing. Sending love and prayers to his family and friends. 

My childhood and teenage years were wonderful due to my wonderful relationship with Mr. & Mrs. Marcum, as a pre-teen the advice that either one gave me Carrie's over to my own 4 daughter's and when they have children I'm certain Mr. & Mrs. Marcums lifes lessons will benefit their kiddos. Whenever I would pop on over to the gingerbread home Mary would always welcome me in with a big genuine hug and I would ask where is Mr. Marcum, and Mary would say " you know Bud, if he's not busy doing something for our Lord then well he'd better get on it". and she had her southern accent and give me another hug. I was thinking of Mr. Marcum because my youngest daughter, Erin just got married and her hubby does referring now on the high school level, soon to be on the jr.college level, his goal is to make it to the PAC-12 and all of a sudden the Marcums popped into my head. I'm 59 now, and still will always remember Mr. & Mrs. Marlin "Bud" Marcum. Our Lord has a way to let people shine their light when people think there is no light, I was saved and accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior and what a gift that was.
I can thank the Marcums for their wonderful teachings and guidance that turned me into the woman, and mother I am today.

Was just whatching my step son in one of his high school basketball games and started thinking about some of the things I was taught, remembering it was Coach Marcum that taught them to me an how everything he said stuck. I have the privilege of passing that info on now. 
So sorry to hear of his loss.  Thank you Coach 😔

You lived a life that exemplifies Faith , love, integrity and service to mankind .
We will surely miss you as the family .
As even we come to grip with your departure , we know you were ready to go to your Heavenly Father ; We will hold dear to the moments and memories you shared with us .

I first met Bud and Mary through my husband Bob, when Bob was a senior in high school. Bud was the principal and Mary the Librarian . How Bob loved Bud! And Mary. I grew to love them equally. 
    We have been married almost 36 years and not a month passed without mention of these two amazing blessed people that were so instrumental in being Jesus in the flesh to Bob. Seeing you the few times through the years (as we lived in different states) was never enough, but always a joy.

Mary, I arrived home tonight and found Bon with tears in his eyes, having just heard about Bud’s passing. Our hearts grieve with and for you. So grateful we will all be together in our forever home!  Please accept our deepest condolences.

I had the privilege of teaching at South Daytona Elementary when Mr. Marcum was principal. He led us with concern for the staff and students which reflected his leadership, kindness, and his love of the Lord. God speed, dear friend.

I had the privilege of teaching at South Daytona Elementary School when Mr. Marcum was principal.  He was a wonderful leader who respected and guided the staff in a friendly, helpful manner. His attitude  and  methods of dealing with situations that were sometimes difficult reflected his strong faith in the Lord and his love and concern for both students and faculty.  God speed, dear friend.

I have many wonderful memories of seeing Bud and Mary at church. Always a smile and a hug. When Bud served as interim principal at CCA,  he treated the students and staff with compassion, respect, positive direction, and love.  Bud is a strong Christian man who will be sorely missed. God bless you Mary and your precious family with comfort and peace.
