Lillian Campbell Walsh passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 7th at the age of 95 under the loving care of Halifax Hospice. Lillian was born on February 26, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York. She was predeceased by her parent’s Robert M. and Gladys Campbell, her devoted first husband John W. (Jack) Walsh, her long-time friend and second husband Arthur Munzinger, and her two sons William T. and John C. Walsh. She is survived by her oldest son Robert J. Walsh, his wife Gwen and two grandchildren, Preston and Delaney. Lillian is also survived by her daughter-in-law Linda Walsh, step-grandchildren Jessica, Phillip and Autumn Kuzma, cousin Mary Jane Wadhams, and step-son David Munzinger. The family also wishes to acknowledge Lillian’s devoted friend, Alan Cox, with whom she spent many hours enjoying his companionship while residing at Bishops Glen.
Lillian graduated from Lynbrook High School and the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. She met her husband at the Army-Navy football game on November 30, 1946, in Philadelphia. They became engaged on August 23, 1947, and married on November 30, 1947, exactly one year from the date they met.
Lillian and Jack relocated their family to Ormond Beach in 1967. Lillian soon joined the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and made many new friends who ultimately became her life-long friends. She remained active in the Auxiliary for over forty years. She was also active at First United Methodist Church in Ormond Beach. Lillian and Jack enjoyed traveling and visited several continents. Her passport is filled with stamps from countries all over the world.
Lillian was a caring, thoughtful and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved her family dearly and was always very proud of her three sons and their families. She touched many lives and would always lend a helping hand when needed. She gave generously to many charities including her favorites, First United Methodist Children’s Home (Enterprise, Florida), The Robert L. Voges Memorial Fund c/o Volusia-Flagler Family YMCA, and The Duval Homes.
A visitation will be held on December 20, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home Ormond Beach. A memorial service will follow in the chapel at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests a donation to one of her favorite charities.
