Lawrence B. Cook, Sr., 88, passed away on June 15, 2018 at Florida Memorial Hospital. Born December 3, 1929 in Fayetteville, NC to the late Frank and Mila (Brown) Cook. Lawrence was very proud of his Air Force service-His first solo flight to receive his pilots licenses was May 20, 1966. He had a passion for anything connected to aviation, flying, history, golf and sports. He received training in the Air Traffic Control in the Air Force. He worked for Piedmont Airlines before entering a career in Air Traffic Control with the US Government CAA, later to become FAA in 1955. He served in Alabama, NC, West Palm Beach, FL and retiring from The Daytona Beach Tower. Lawrence married Barbara Adams, August 29, 195. They shared 63 Happy Years together. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Barbara; daughter, Jeanne Cook (Marshall) Howell; son, Lawrence “Larry” B. (Barbara M.) Cook, Jr.; grandsons, Philip (Cara) and Matthew (Tony); great-grandsons; Conner and Thomas; brother, Frank D. (Joan) Cook of Asheville, NC; sister, Anne Stamey of Ashville, NC; brother in law, Richard (Alyce) Adams of Fayetteville, NC; many nieces and nephews, along with golfing friends, especially Ned and Ron. Preceded in death by brother, Ralph and sisters, Virginia (Milton) Wright, Betty Jane (Frank D.) Scott and Louise (rex) Willis. His family will always remember and cherish his strength, devotion and humor. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
