Kathryn (Kay) Elizabeth Olson of Winter Park, FL and long-time resident of Ormond Beach, FL died Monday at home in The Mayflower Retirement Center where she lived the past 10 years. Kay was born October 10, 1917 in New Albany, Indiana. After graduating high school she attended Business School and became a Secretary at Owens Glass Company. She married Arthur (Bud) Morris in 1939 and decided to move to Daytona Beach, FL, on a whim, with their daughter after Bud was killed in World War II. Not long after, she met and married, the second love of her life, returning Air Force officer C. Wesley “Wes “Olson, former owner of Olson Electric. They were together 56 wonderful years. Kay was a member of Oceanside Country Club, Halifax River Yacht Club and the Palmetto Club for 30 years, serving as President and later Building Chairman for the clubhouse on North Beach Street, Daytona Beach. She also owned and operated The Gift Villa for more than a decade. She was a member of the North Ormond Beach and Winter Park Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Upon retirement the Olson's spent their summers in Highlands, NC enjoying friends and family. Mrs. Olson is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Dunn, formerly of Ormond Beach, who now resides in Clermont with her husband Sam Dunn, and her son, Stephen "Steve" Olson and wife Julie of Ormond Beach. "Mamaw", as she was known to her four granddaughters, one grandson and seven great-grandchildren, was much loved and will be missed. A graveside service will be held at Volusia Memorial Park, 548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach on Saturday March 29th at 2:30 P.M.
