John Thomas Strickland, III (Tommy) passed away on April 15, 2017 after a long battle with lung cancer. Born at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, FL on March 15, 1940. Tommy was a Florida State Certified General Contractor for 34 years where he built custom homes throughout Central Florida. He was also a Licensed Residential Builder in South Carolina where he built upscale homes on Lake Keowee. He was Vice President of Starlite Services a family corporation
that built, owned and operated 13 Skate Centers in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Tommy, graduated from Mainland High School, played football for the University of Miami and received his BA from the University of Florida. He was a devout Christian and member of Tomoka Christian Church, Ormond Beach. He enjoyed studying the Bible commentaries of Dr. J. Vernon McGee with his wife, particularly Ezekiel, Daniel and Revelation. His favorite book was "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn. He is survived by the love of his life and wife Debbie Jo Strickland, four children, Tamara Kay Fuehrer, Lindsey Nicole Weech, and John Thomas Strickland IV, all of Ormond Beach, and Bradley Steven Berezansky of Seaford, Delaware. There will be a visitation held Saturday April 22, 2017 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Voluisia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL with a funeral service to begin at 3:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Volusia Memorial Park following services.
