JoAnn Clements, 82, of Daytona Beach entered her eternal rest on July 25, 2014. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. on March 8, 1932, she grew up in Queens, N.Y. where she married her husband Jim on Sept. 6, 1952. They raised their family in Long Island N.Y., moving to Ormond Beach in 1977. JoAnn worked as a medical receptionist and technician before retiring. As a longtime member of Church of the Holy Child in Ormond Beach, her faith was the cornerstone of her life and found expression through the Cursillo movement of Central Florida for nearly 30 years. JoAnn will be remembered as a dedicated servant and evangelist in the Cursillo movement – a teacher, leader and cheerleader for Cursillistas. She also served as the Convener of the order of St. Luke, was active in Kairos Outside (a prison ministry for women with family members incarcerated) and the Pilot Club of Daytona Beach. All who knew her remember her as a force to be reckoned with for her passion in ministry. She was a zealous and inspirational leader and she garnered love and respect in all aspects of her life. She touched many lives, helped often, prayed frequently and genuinely loved being involved and surrounded by people.
Preceded in death by her husband Jim, she is survived by daughter Judy Clements of St. Petersburg, daughter Jayne Garner and her husband Gordon of Ormond Beach, son Jim Clements and his wife Joan of Ormond Beach, 5 grandchildren: Justin, Patrick, Katie, Chris, and Michael and great-granddaughter Natalie. All of whom cherished her and will miss her unique and joyful view of life and ability to speak out and fiercely protect those she loved and admired. She will be waiting at the gates of heaven to greet each one personally with her effusive and famous hugs.
