Jean Evelyn Houser, 90, went to be with the Lord May 22, 2012. She was born January 31, 1922 in Boston, MA. After graduating from high school Jean received her Bachelors as a physical therapist and worked at as a physical therapist in Boston, MA. She married her husband Jackson G. Houser on January 7, 1947.
Jean’s greatest passions were her family, volunteering with the St. Agnes School Women’s Guild and Our Lady of Nazareth Academy Women’s Guild. When not volunteering, Jean used her gifts of hospitality and cooking to entertain family, friends, and community organizations. With her husband and family she managed a campground in Naples, Maine for twenty-five years during the summer months.
When retired to Flagler Beach, FL, Jean also volunteered with the Flagler Council on Aging as a driver for individuals without transportation to medical appointments.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Jack. Left to cherish her memories are son Jay Houser and wife Mary, daughter Marilyn Hughes and husband Jim, daughter Jackie Neville and husband Chris, sister Yola Trabucco, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many friends and extended family.
Visitation will be held Friday May 25, 2012 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. A committal service will be held graveside Saturday May 26, 2012 at 10:00AM at the Volusia Memorial Park, 550 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. A memorial service will be held at the Saturday May 26, 2012 at 4:00PM at the First Baptist Church, 3000 John Young Parkway, Orlando, FL 32805. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Comforter or Orlando Health Heart Institute. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.volusiamemorialfunerals.com.
