James Michael Butcher "Mike"

James Michael “Mike” Butcher, Former owner of BUTCHER'S NURSERY INC, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017 at home surrounded by his family after a long courageous battle with cancer. Mike, a lifetime resident of Daytona Beach was born December 11, 1956 at Halifax Hospital, attended Volusia County Public Schools and continued to support them thought out his life. He was a 3rd generation nurseryman who owned and operated Butcher’s Nursery serving Daytona Beach since 1955. Mike took a lot of pride in his family business however spending time with his family was the most important. He loved his dogs, walks on the beach, swimming and spending time in St Maarten. He attained a black belt in Karate and spent time teaching Martial Arts. Left to cherish his memory is his WIFE of 37 years, JANET BUTCHER; DAUGHTERS, JULIE MARIE BUTCHER, JESSICA MICHELE BUTCHER SALAZAR, TIFFANY LYNN RAMOS and their spouses Jim Gray, Jeff Salazar and Jeff Ramos; grandchildren, John Michael Butcher, Jaxson Michael Butcher Salazar, Austin Salazar Ruthie Ann, Sophia Desiree, Madelyn Nicole, and Olivia Grace Ramos; sisters, Theresa Abel, Nancy Craig, Valerie Kupper and Lynn Martin and stepmother, Carol Butcher. The family will receive friends Friday 6-8 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home 548 N Nova Road, Ormond Beach. Funeral service will be held, 11:00 am Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church 600 South Nova Road, Ormond Beach followed by interment in Volusia Memorial Park.
