Frank Gibbins, 81, of Ormond Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Monday, May 15 surrounded by his wife Brenda and their loving family. Frank was born to John F. and Helen R. Gibbins in Troy, NY on December 8, 1935. Frank proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1970, Frank and his family relocated to Ormond Beach, and for 35 years, he owned and operated Frank’s Citgo on the corner of 11th Street and Derbyshire Road in Holly Hill. Frank took great pride in the relationships he and Brenda developed with their customers. Following his retirement in 2005, the couple traveled to Yellowstone on several cross country driving excursions and enjoyed cruises with the family.
Frank is survived by his wife of 58 years, Brenda; sons Michael (Kristi), Mark, and Thomas (Julia); nephews Kevin (Lynn) and Michael (Dixie), and niece Artha Marie (James). He is also survived by his grandchildren Amanda, Jennifer, Lance, Jonathan, Monica, Sean, Shane, Allison, Ella, and Lily; and great grandchildren Michael, Haley, and Max. He was recently preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Gibbins Vardamaskos (Jon ) and brother Jack Gibbins.
The family extends an invitation to friends, former customers, and neighbors to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, May 27th, at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home (548 North Nova Road, Ormond Beach) at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his honor to the Halifax Humane Society (halifaxhumansociety.org) or Halifax Hospice (235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach).
