Carl F. Willis, affectionately known as Butch, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, FL. He was 81 years old and surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 24,1942, Butch spent his formative years on a small farm in Red Creek, N.Y. In 2003, he moved to Ormond Beach, FL, to live with his sister and brother-in-law. Later, he found a warm and caring home at Mandeville Manor in Palm Coast, FL.
Despite facing intellectual challenges, Butch approached life with unparalleled joy. Social and always sporting a smile, he had a unique way of greeting everyone with a simple "hi" and a warm hug. Butch cherished the simple pleasures in life, finding happiness in singing, bike rides, and games of baseball and basketball. His infectious spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, creating a treasury of happy and loving memories.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Carl S. and Minnabel F. Willis, brothers Merton and Stephen Jewel, and brother-in-law William H. Owen (Bill). He is survived by his sister, Marguerite L. Owen (Maggie) of Ormond Beach, FL, nieces and nephews Marguerite A. Owen (Rita), William S. Owen (Stan) (Pursia), Scott F. Owen (Melissa), and Mindy S. Strawser (Jon), along with several grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at The Chapel of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home in Ormond Beach, FL, on December 30, 2023. Calling hours are from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by the funeral service and interment at Volusia Memorial Park, Ormond Beach, FL.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carl's (Butch) memory to the Mandeville Life Skills Center, 24 Old Kings Rd N., Palm Coast, FL. Your generosity will honor Butch's memory and contribute to the compassionate care he received in his final days.
