Ana Rosa Vazquez Morejon, 81, Ormond Beach, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2021. Ana was born on July 26, 1939 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba to Inocencia and Jose Vazquez. Ana is survived by her loving son Oscar (Liz), and her three adored granddaughters, Olivia, Zoe, and Annie. She was pre-deceased by her ex-husband Bernabe. Ana was born and raised on a citrus farm and later married rancher Bernabe Oscar Morejon. After the Cuban revolution -- their ranch taken from them and lives forever changed – the Morejon family began their journey to the United States. Bernabe left first while Ana stayed behind with her toddler son. In 1968, despite her fear of flying, Ana and young Oscar boarded a plane to Spain. They lived in Madrid for 9 months then joined Bernabe in the United States and settled in Miami. Though they eventually divorced, Bernabe and Ana remained united in their efforts to raise their son. Ana made her living as a seamstress but the life she made revolved around her family and friends. Ana found joy in spending time with her Cuban family members in Miami. She also loved the company of good friends both old and new. In 2001, she retired her sewing machine and moved to Ormond Beach to be closer to Oscar and his growing family. Her years in Ormond were filled with time spent with her nietas. She loved her grand daughters and passed along her Cuban heritage to them – including the secret of how she made her world renowned tostones. Ana passed from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.
