Bill Vincent of Orleans, MA passed away unexpectedly at Cape Cod Hospital on May 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was a private man and loved by many. He could find good in all, regardless of their demeanor. He was a kind and generous soul. He had a very dry sense of humor and would always make those around him laugh, once they realized he was making fun.
He was born in Portland, ME to William and Beverly (Conary) Vincent, previously deceased and grew up in Millbury, MA, spending most of his summers on Block Island, RI with his grandparents. Exploring the island on his dirt bike and many childhood camping trips, he acquired a deep love for the Lord, Jesus and great appreciation for nature.
He graduated from Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1979 where he discovered his passion for cars. This first love of his life led him in to the collision repair industry where he spent his entire career. After spending many years repairing vehicles, he later became an auto damage appraiser eventually leading he and his wife, Penny, to purchase Cranberry Collision in Harwich, MA.
Bill and Penny lived their entire lives in Massachusetts, first in Worcester. They purchased their first home, a true fixer upper in Barre in 1985 and moved to Orleans, MA in 1998.
He was also an avid history buff and loved to read. He was a speed reader and could devour a book in one sitting, retaining all the details. He inherited a large collection of National Geographics from his grandfather dating back to the early 1900s and spent countless hours with his nose stuck between the pages.
He was a dedicated family man. In his earlier years, he worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable life for them. As time moved on, his efforts paid off allowing him to be more present with them. Particularly, in the past few years, he had formed a much deeper bond with them. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren how to do repairs to their own vehicles and properties.
He and his wife sold Cranberry Collision in 2021 and were able to travel extensively, including visits to Hawaii; Key West, FL; Greece, Aruba, Panama Canal, Alaska, Costa Rica, Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico...
Bill was a Deacon and Worship Welcomer at Brewster Baptist Church for several years, continuing his generous nature to many people in need.
Bill leaves behind his wife, Penny (Margaret)(Belanger) Vincent whom he married on his 20th birthday. Daughter Tara Carpenter, of Hawaii, her husband Shawn and grandchildren Caleb, Liam and Brooke. Son Bill (William III) Vincent of Turner, ME. Daughter Angela Stagakis, of Eastham, MA, her children, Lucas, Bradley and Nicholas. Sister Ruth Cronin of St. Albans, VT who was predeceased by her two husbands, Bill Brady and The Honorable Bob Cronin. He left his faithful dogs, Girlfriend and Babe. His other faithful dogs, Max and Juneau welcomed him at the rainbow bridge. He also left other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main St, Brewster, MA on August 5, 2023 at 11:00 am with a reception to follow in Fellowship Hall.
