Dr. William Francis Gadbois passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022, surrounded by his family. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rose. They have three children, Christopher, his wife Yekta, Laura, her fiancé, Edward, and Daniel with his wife Sarah. Bill has four grandchildren, Anisa, Carmel, Benjamin, and Cameron. Bill is survived by a brother Joe and a sister, Louise and is predeceased by his twin brother, Gerry and a brother Raymond. Nothing made Bill prouder and happier than spending time with his entire family after retiring to Orleans, MA.
As a Urologist for more than 44 years, Doctor Gadbois loved his practice as well. Doctor G loved helping his patients as well as the nurses, hospital staff, and other physicians he practiced with at both St. Luke’s and Muhlenberg Hospitals in Bethlehem, PA. They were like Doctor G’s second family.
In his spare time, Bill loved driving down Callanan’s Pass onto Nauset Beach since moving to Cape Cod. Nothing would drive his family more insane than waking up at 7:30 in the morning to get the best spot on the beach. Bill also loved hitting the gym, where he had some of his best memories making great gym friends…socializing, instead of working out. He was also the chef of the Gadbois family, taking so much pride in the surprise at dinner with what he’s freshly prepared. Bill “Go Birds” Gadbois was also a proud Philadelphia Eagles fan and could quote any statistic of any current or prior player up until his final day. #FlyEaglesFly
Bill loved traveling as well with his wife, Rose. They traveled by air and by sea to destinations including Alaska, the South Pacific, Panama Canal, Costa Rica, Spain, England, Scotland, Ireland, and the Caribbean. It was during these travels that Bill met so many dear friends and was able to enjoy the memories made during those travels.
Doctor Gadbois attended Clark University and was a graduate of Assumption University (BS), George Washington University (MS), and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He moved to Nashville to pursue his surgical residency at Vanderbilt University and then Philadelphia for a residency in Urology at the University of Pennsylvania. During his education, Doctor Gadbois published several papers including “Effect of long-term chemical sympathectomy on function of canine urinary tract” (1975), “Use of sequential Hg chlormerodrin delayed scans to evaluate individual renal function. Experimental renal artery stenosis and ureteral obstruction” (1975), and “ Gartner’s duct cyst and ipsilateral renal agenesis” (1974).
Doctor Gadbois had a medical license in the state of Pennsylvania and he was certified by the American Board of Urology. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 9 – 10:30 AM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA. A Funeral Mass in Doctor Gadbois’ honor will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans, MA. Burial will be private. A public Celebration of Life will be held at Ocean Edge Resort, 2907 Main Street (Rt. 6A), Brewster, MA directly following the funeral mass. Being of the Catholic faith was so important to Bill, and in leading up to his passing, he felt comfort in his relationship with our Lord that he would be going home.
