William F. Claflin “Bill”, 87, of Bradenton, FL passed away on June 1, 2016. He was born in 1928 in Boston, MA to Harold & Althea Claflin. Bill grew up in West Newton, MA where he met his childhood buddies, the “West Newton crowd”. Together they maintained an amazing friendship for the next 80 years.
Bill served in the Army from 1951-53, and transferred to the Army Reserve. He worked in Counter Intelligence during the Korean Conflict and was in Japan, Tokyo for 1 year. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal and United Nations Medal of Honor.
Bill pursued accounting in college and became a CPA for his career, working in the manufactured home industry. In retirement, Bill and Ann shared time between New Hampshire and Bradenton FL, for years before moving to Bradenton in 1997.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 50 years - Anna B. Claflin; stepson Richard Dellinger; brother Charles R. Claflin (Marion). He is survived by his nephew David R. Claflin; five nieces Elizabeth St. Amand; Barbara Hotchkin; Susan Newton; Nancy Morrisson; Marjorie Milman; and many dear friends.
Bill will be laid to rest by his wife Anna in Cape Cod, MA with a graveside service in Brewster, MA on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 2:00pm.
A memorial service will also be held on June 20, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. at the Westminster Towers Chapel, Bradenton, FL
