Tom was born on June 17, 1943 in Boston, MA to George F. and Ruth M. O’Hara. He was the youngest of nine children. He received his master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1978 and worked at Yankee Atomic for 25 years. On June 5, 1975, he married Susana Krivatsy, the love of his life and as he would say, “the best thing that ever happened to me”. They raised three solid children who graduated from military academies: Tom (United States Air Force Academy), Christina (United States Military Academy) and Bill (United States Naval Academy).
Tom had a passion for life and family. The saddest day in his life occurred when his father passed away when he was six years old. But he had a loving mother and solid family and he made the most of the situation. Tom was a Captain in the Army and flew helicopters in Vietnam. He was awarded numerous decorations including two Purple Hearts for bravery. When Tom returned from serving almost three years in Vietnam, he finished his graduate education. Tom picked up golf when he was about 50 and shot a 71 at a tournament at the Captain’s golf course – he was 71 at that time.
Tom is survived by his wife Susana, his three children and his grandchildren Aria, Athena, Adeline, Kellum, John, Joe and Abigail. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at the Saint Joan of Arc Church in Orleans, MA at 11am. He has fought the good fight. He has kept the faith. 2 Tim 4:7-8
