Thomas Galvin, 85, of North Eastham, MA, loving husband of Jeannette (Boisvert) Galvin, passed away on July 1, 2024.
Born and raised in Boston, MA, Thomas received his BA and MA from Boston College. He taught Latin and French before becoming an assistant principal at Marshfield High School. From 1977 to 1998, Thomas served as principal of Berlin High School in Connecticut. In 1995, he was named Connecticut Principal of the Year and received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award. When he retired, Berlin High School’s new library was named the Thomas F. Galvin Media Center in his honor. After retiring, Thomas continued his passion for public service and education as a volunteer with AmeriCorps in Boston before fully retiring to North Eastham, MA.
Thomas leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Jeannette; his brother Joseph (Bernice) of Boston, MA; his children, Regina (John) Amarone of North Haven, CT, Deirdre Galvin of Eastham, MA, Germaine (Michael) Leonard of Brewster, MA, Thomas (Maribel Cuenca) Galvin of Jersey City, NJ and Stephanie (Michael) Pollicino of Lynbrook, NY; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother James (Kathleen) and sister, Geraldine.
Thomas will be remembered for his sense of humor, tenacity, and love for his work and family. An avid walker, he especially enjoyed exploring the nature trails near his Cape Cod home.
