83, died January 28, 2015. Bob was the son of Alexander and Barbara Royce of New York City and Dedham, Massachusetts.
Bob was a graduate of Brooks School and Amherst College. He also attained the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1955, he married the love of his life, Lizzie, and began his career at The Hotchkiss School, Lakeville, Connecticut. Bob taught physics, astronomy, mechanical drawing and wood squad. In 1965, he became Business Manager, a position he held until his retirement.
Bob and Liz moved to Orleans, Massachusetts and found a warm and inspiring community. Bob was an active member of the Orleans Convention Commission and the Orleans Yacht Club. He was a jack-of-all-trades, eager to lend a hand and share his knowledge. He spent many hours collecting water samples and counting herring in the water of the Cape, always hoping to preserve this special environment.
Bob is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Shelley Royce of Lafayette, Colorado; his daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Scott Stevenson of Providence, Rhode Island; and by his three granddaughters, Wesley, Sophie, and Brett Stevenson.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or to the Orleans Yacht Club.
