Richard was born in Medford, MA and graduated from Arlington High School. He spent most of his adult life in Orleans living with his parents. He was a custodian at Nauset Middle School for over thirty years. He was a friend to all and always had a story to share.
Richard loved many things and could offer advice on any subject. He raised a plentiful garden, built birdhouses and rocking horses in his workshop, crocheted countless blankets, caned chairs, crafted leather belts and wallets, caught the biggest fish, and avidly supported the Wareham Gateman of the Cape Cod Baseball League throwing out the first pitch one time. He won multiple medals in the Special Olympics for swimming, running, bowling and track and field events.
A memorial to celebrate Richard’s life will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home in Orleans from 5:00 -7:00 on Thursday, June 10, 2021 including a service of prayer at 6:45. Donations may be made to Beacon Hospice (32 Resnick Road – Suite 3, Plymouth, MA 02360) or the Special Olympics.
