Brewster – It is with great sadness that we announce Peter Reohr Wells passed away unexpectedly on September 24, 2023. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the Reverend Paul D. and Elisabeth R. Wells on July 25, 1936. Peter received his elementary education in the Sayre, PA public schools, followed by two years in high school in West Pittston, PA and graduated from Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA. Peter attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA.
From very early in his life, Peter was involved in choirs and musical groups including school choruses, college glee clubs and as a trained bass soloist in solo quartets throughout the Philadelphia area. Besides his love for sacred choral music, he enjoyed opera, backpacking, scenic overlooks, crystal clear lakes and the sound of wind in pine trees.
Most of Peter’s work experience was in sales, beginning management training with F.W. Woolworth to wholesale building materials in industrial machinery at the Gardner-Denver Co. to, finally, as CEO of Engineered Systems designing and installing dry bulk material handling systems in industry.
Peter is survived by Sally-Jean Macort of Brewster, his partner of 21 years, his brother, Don Wells, and his wife, Darlene, of Hillsborough, NC; Carol Berg of Palm Coast, FL; his daughter, Kimberly Bray, and her husband, Joseph, and his grandchildren, Erin and Joey Bray, all of Abington, PA, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 1 pm at Nickerson Funeral Home at 77 Eldredge Park Way in Orleans, Ma with a reception following the service.
