Mark D. Dundas, 57, of Orleans, Massachusetts, passed away at home Christmas Eve morning surrounded by his loving family. Mark is survived by his cherished wife, Gemma, his loving children, daughter Geneve, of Grand Prairie, Texas and son Ian and daughter-in-law Ashleigh, of Keene, New Hampshire, as well as his beloved dog, Elgin. The son of Paula Dundas of Winchester, New Hampshire, and the late Raymond Dundas of Keene, New Hampshire. The brother of Katherine, Charles, Robert, Snow, Ann, John, Paula, Mary and Paul. Mark was born in Keene, New Hampshire. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated in 1975 from Keene High School, where he lettered in two sports and captained the football team. Mark attended Keene State College and graduated in 1979 with a degree in English Literature. After a teaching sabbatical in England, Mark moved permanently to Cape Cod in 1980 and began working on the fishing trawler, “The Joe Stephen,” out of Provincetown. Working on the trawler allowed him to pursue his two great passions, the outdoors and writing. Mark later began a career as a carpenter, where for 30 years, he built and worked on numerous properties and homes on the lower Cape. He loved to fish and was a great sportsman throughout his life. As a life-long voracious reader, Mark mastered many skills including stonewall construction, woodworking, gardening and cooking. Mark spent his life giving and sharing all he had with his family and friends. He was a devoted friend to those who knew him intimately. Mark’s great intellect, unique wit, and many talents will be missed greatly by those blessed to have loved and known him. Mark and his family express gratitude to Davenport Mugar Cancer Center with a special thank you to Kevin Smyth-Hammond for his friendship and expert care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to “Wounded Warriors” in his memory is appreciated. Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday, January 5, 2015 at Saint Joan of Arc, Orleans, Massachusetts at 10:00 a.m.
