Jonathan Charles "Jonny" Rogers, Sr., age 37,of Brewster, tragically and unexpectedly passed away on December 31st 2023 leaving behind his beautiful wife, Kellie Rogers, their 2 year old twin boys Henry and Charles, 4 month old Benjamin, and 13 year old Jack. He was the son of James Holton Rogers III of Orleans and Cynthia Inez Simmons Rogers of Berlin, MA and step son of Brenda Jane Meehan of Dennis. He is also survived by his older brother, James Holton Rogers IV of Berlin MA, and younger brother, Daniel Joseph Rogers of Orleans, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins residing in Maine and Western Massachusetts.
Born on June 24th 1986 in Framingham MA, Jonny grew up in the small town of Berlin MA. He spent most of his younger days under the wings of his older brother Jim, riding dirt bikes, doing burnouts and causing trouble. The two were a force to be reckoned with. He often said the rough and toughness he had was because of his older brother. Growing up he traveled to Disney world with cousins and his immediate family. He also spent many summers and holidays down on the Cape with his younger brother Dan. He graduated from Tahanto Regional High School in 2005. He was the artsy kid, a history buff and found a passion in literature.
In his early 20s he found himself down on the Cape more frequently. Here he stayed with his beloved grandmother Demi at “the Cape house” down on Jack Knife Point. After a couple of years he became a student at Cape Cod Community College and attended school on and off for a number of years. In 2010 he welcomed his first son Jonathan Charles Rogers Jr, better known as Jack, into the world. At this point in his life be began focusing on creating a better life for himself and his son.
He worked at Bodystrong Fitness in Chatham, a place that truly helped him find himself. At the young age of 29 he had the opportunity to become an owner of Bodystrong Fitness, as they opened a location in Orleans. Here he flourished, he became a strong member of the community, always welcoming new members, offering the shirt off his back to anyone in need. In 2020 the gym underwent a big change and rebranded, now known as Nauset Fit Co., owned by Jonny and his business partner, Phil. The gym was his baby, as he would call it, and after rebranding, he and Phil put their everything into it. Jonny would open the gym every morning and you would often find him at the back corner of the gym squatting over 500 pounds before 6 AM. He grew an empire, a community space where he helped people achieve not just physical goals but life goals. He often joked that his job was more of a therapist than a personal trainer.
He was dedicated, if he said he was going to do something, you best believe he was doing everything in his power to accomplish it. He was a specimen of a man, tall dark and handsome, shoulders wide as the doors he walked through, effortlessly making his presence known in any room. Larger than life himself, his heart was even bigger. Jonny had an old soul and was always good for a long philosophical conversation. He could talk to any and everyone, always a good listener and gave sound advice. He seemingly had endless knowledge of various topics, many related to health and fitness, music, and cars.
He was an active member in the local music scene, in a few different bands over the years playing guitar and bass. One of his favorite things to do was to go out dancing with his wife, Kellie. Notorious for tearing up the dance floor he would do a step, spin and embrace Kellie to lift her into the air. When words failed him, music healed.
His proudest roles he held was being a devoted father and loving husband. Kellie and Jonny started dating in 2019. Their love was contagious, they fell in love so effortless and easily, they had truly found a soulmate in one another. Together they competed in bodybuilding shows and powerlifting meets, loved enjoying good food together, but most importantly was their family time. In December of 2020 they got tremendous news of expecting identical twin boys. Jack, his oldest son took great pride in this exciting news and would tell practically every person he saw he was going to be a big brother. Kellie and Jonny completed their family with another baby boy born just 4.5 months ago. Family time was often spent out on the beach or in the boat. Jonny loved his boys more than anything in this world. Jonny and Kellie had a beautiful wedding ceremony on Nauset beach in May of 2022. Jonny adored his in-laws, Wendy and David Higgins of Orleans and his brothers-in-law, Michael and Mitchell Higgins.
The community has suffered a devastating loss. Jonny truly touched the lives of so many people with his compassionate personality. In his honor, the family asks that you go about your days to come with that same compassion for others. Be there for one another. Love one another, and never ever take life for granted.
A Celebration of Life for "Jonny" will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, Massachusetts 02653. A reception will begin at 6:00 PM at the Barley Neck Inn in East Orleans.
