Jack was born on Dec. 9, 1947 in Newton, MA to the late John J. O’Donnell, Sr. and Dorothy Sennott (O’Brien) O’Donnell. Jack was preceded in death by his sister Mary Ellen Kirby of Huntington Beach, CA. Jack is survived by his wife and best friend Courtney Kane and baby daughter Flannery Caroline O’Donnell. He is also survived by his loving brothers Richard of Minneapolis, MN, William and his wife Judith of Chicago, IL, and his little sister Therese Connell of Melbourne, Australia.
Jack also leaves behind his father-in-law Francis Kane of Orleans, mother-in-law Carol Kane-Strakele and her husband William of NC, sister-in-law Caroline Kane and Sallie Kane, brother-in-law Matthew Kane, many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and a multitude of friend far and wide.
Jack loved his parents and siblings dearly and cherished they special relationship he shared with each.
Jack attended public school in Harwich, MA and then St. Patrick’s Catholic High School in Catskill, NY. From there he attended Highlands University in NM and the University of Maryland, graduating with degrees in political science and U.S. History.
Jack was known for his friendly and outgoing nature and was a wonderful conversationalist with boat loads of Irish wit. He was a true gentleman with a natural inclination to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
The recent birth of his daughter on May 17th, 2013 was the most joyous occasion of his life. His love and adoration for his little girl was immeasurable and everlasting. His loving spirit will most certainly live on and grow through her.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, Canal St., Orleans, MA on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the service, friends and family are invited back to Jack’s late residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Animal Rescue League of Brewster, 3981 Main St., East Brewster, MA 02631.
