John (Jack) died on Sunday October 28, 2018. He leaves his loving wife Lorraine Fisher Coughlan. He was the son of the late Harry J. Coughlan and Frances A. Coughlan. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Harry and Jim.
He also leaves three nieces: Mary Jane and her husband George, of Framingham MA; Sue and her husband Larry, of Plymouth, MA; Diane Coughlan of Harwich, MA; and nephew James Coughlan and wife Diane, of Westport, MA. He also leaves three grand-nieces: Tiffany of Natick, MA; Erin of Wellesley, MA; Kimberly Maas, her two children, Mr. Mason, and Miss Ella Grace of Harwich MA; and grand-nephew, Craig of San Antonio, TX.
John and Lorraine were daily communicants at both St. Joan of Arc of Orleans, MA, and St. Agnes of Key Biscayne, FL until his health failed.
He was born in Boston and educated in the Wellesley school system. On his 18th birthday, he joined the Army. He was assigned to the stars and stripes newspaper in the Pacific, where he was office manager. He reached the rank of Tech Sergeant.
After leaving the Army, he went to MIT to become a civil engineer, upon graduation in 1952, he went to work for the family business, Coughlan Construction Company with his Dad, and two brothers, where he worked until the company closed.
Jack loved his faith, family, friends, and fishing. His avid love for flying, boating on both Cape Cod and Key Biscayne will live on in all our of hearts forever. Jack and Lorraine are Patrons of the Arts. He also loved to garden and read. He loved traveling to many places around the world with his fishing buddies, and his wife. His was a life well lived, and he was loved by all. The sparkle of those ice blue eyes will live on in our hearts and will continue to light up our world. There are friends, there is family, and then there are friends who become family. We extend our deepest gratitude to our friends and family. We thank our Pleasant Bay family for the love and care that Jack received, as a resident for two years. Our deepest gratitude to the Jehovah Witnesses’ for all their love, help, and friendship for so many years, in so many ways.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc, in Orleans, MA on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 10:00am. A private burial will follow.
