He was the husband of his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Betsy, for 61 years. Both Betsy and his first-born son, Bob, died in 2014.
Jack was the son of John D. Catlin and Helen (Carr) Catlin. Born in Easton, PA, he grew up in Easton, while his father was an executive at Dixie Cup. Jack attended Lafayette College where his future father-in-law was the Athletic Director and earned a degree in Engineering. He served as a Naval officer in Japan. He and Betsy also lived in Milwaukee, WI and East Granby, CT and Branford, CT and they loved vacationing on Cape Cod. He and the family eventually moved to Orleans in 1971 to join the Community of Jesus, where he spent the rest of his days. He was also a: mechanical engineer, nuclear engineer, manager, draftsman, charter and commercial fisherman, inventor; gentle, quiet, low-key, genuine human being; good brother, devoted husband, and beloved father, grandfather, & great-grandfather.
He loved woodworking, fishing, flying lessons, laughing, reading, spinning a yarn with a twinkle in his eye, and spending time with his family.
Jack is survived by his youngest son John C. Catlin of Fall River, MA, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
