Jeffrey Young Scott

Jeffrey Young Scott, 57, of Orleans, MA passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2023. Jeff was a true Cape Codder, born at Cape Cod Hospital on March 31, 1966 to the late June L. Young and William Whittemore Scott.

Jeff started his career at Cape Cod Photo and Art. He later started his own business, Hammer and Anchor Incorporated, a construction company located in Orleans. He was well-known for the renovation and remodeling projects he undertook at many homes in the area. Jeff had a passion for travel to foreign countries, including Vietnam and Colombia, in order to help organizations that worked with abandoned children and those who battled cancer; such organizations included the Scarpeta Foundation and the Divine Province Foundation both in Cali, Colombia.

A gifted carpenter like his father before him, and as dedicated to Hammer and Anchor as Jeff was, his most important job and top priority was being a father. Jeff and his daughter Taliah Scott shared a strong bond, especially during the time they spent together each Sunday at The Church of the Holy Spirit. Jeff and Taliah treasured being together, whether in the car on the way to school, on the water, or at the beach. Jeff was also an important father-figure to his stepdaughters Kayla Thomas and Juli Munoz. They, too, cherished the good times they had with Jeff.

Jeff is survived by his wife Missilene Scott, his daughter Taliah of West Yarmouth, and his daughters Kayla Thomas of Charleston, SC, and Juli Munoz, of Vero Beach, FL. He leaves his brother, Dr. Peter McCray of Hilton Head Island, SC and his sister, Marsha Eldredge of Chatham, MA as well as several nieces and nephews. Jeff’s lifelong friend, Jeff McMorrow, held a special place in his heart. Their friendship grew and flourished from the time they were babies, through good times and bad, joys and sorrows.

Jeff will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends, customers, business associates and fellow parishioners at The Church of the Holy Spirit. A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at The Church of the Holy Spirit on November 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.
