Heather Morse, 50, passed peacefully early Sunday morning February 19th, 2012, after a brief and sudden illness, lovingly surrounded by family and friends, in the compassionate care of CCH. She was the beloved fiancé of Joey Thomas and mother to their 3 year old son, Josh, daughter of the late Robert and Sally Morse. Born and raised in Wellfleet, she attended local schools. She was a gifted horseback rider and certified instructor. A highly accomplished equestrian, she taught countless people, young and old, the joys of riding horses Western Style. Many young area girls have been touched by her magnetic personality and love of horses and had the privilege of riding her great loves, the precious Serenity and the late Fernwood Tonight. She was instrumental in helping Joey found A to Z Treez in 2004 and attending to the responsibilities of running the now successful business. She worked for years as a counselor at the CCC on Alcoholism and helped numerous people find and maintain their sobriety. Heather was rare, one of a kind. She was famous for her incredible down to earth sense of humor and uplifted all she met. She overcame many obstacles in her life to find happiness with Joey and Josh. She was a truly inspiring person of faith, saying often, in trying times, that nothing happens in God's world by mistake. Heather rarely sat still; was always on the move; never stayed long anywhere.
She is survived by her large extended caring family, brothers, Kyle, Brett and Brad Morse, sisters in law, Stephanie, Rebecca, Diane, Kathleen and Carolyn, her adored and adoring nieces and nephew, Kelsey, Hanna, Jonathon and Sarah Morse, and so very many others that loved her dearly. She will be profoundly missed.
Her visitation will be held on Friday, Feb.24, 2012 from 5 to 8pm, at the Nickerson Funeral Home on 77 Eldredge Park Way in Orleans. Funeral service will be, Saturday, Feb. 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the Wellfleet Congregational Church, Main St., Wellfleet. Reception to follow.
