

Harry R. Eggart, a long-time resident of Wellfleet, MA, passed away Monday October 23, 2017, at the age of 79, after a long illness. The beloved husband of Roberta B. Eggart, for fifty years, loving father of Jesse, Casey and Kat Eggart and proud Papi to Kai McCready, Harry was born in Florida, where nieces, Linda Dunn and Suzzie Akins and other family reside. Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Steve Penn and niece, Joanna Shober, live in California and son-in-law Michael McCready in Stratford, CT. Harry attended Auburn U, AL and Tulane U, LA. He served in the United States Army in Ethiopia, Africa.
Harry spent his life in the theatre, starting out as an actor and advancing to directing and producing .He is a member of theatrical unions AEA, SAG, AFTRA and DGA. He directed more than 2000 hours of Network TV; 18 years as a Director of Guiding Light/CBS and many other soap operas: One Life to Live, Santa Barbara, Loving, Touring legit shows, Dinner Theater, Industrials and Specials. He was Director of Daytime Emmy Awards for 12 years for NATAS.
Harry loved to paint, never met a book he didn’t like and wrote in his spare time. He loved hot weather, his family, a good joke, his dogs and corn bread. He had a great smile.
A Military Graveside Service for Harry Eggart will be held on Wednesday Nov. 8th at 1:00 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA 02532. A reception will follow at 1:45 PM at the Courtyard Restaurant & Pub, 1337 County Rd Rt 28 A, Cataumet, MA 02534.
