Glenn Harry Rowley, 66, of Brewster, died peacefully Tuesday January 13, 2015 at home. Born in Hyannis, he was the son of Harold Frederick and Olive Nellie (Jones) Rowley. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1970 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and received his law degree, cum laude from Western New England College in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy out of Iceland and Washington, D.C. from 1971 to 1974 during the Vietnam War.
During his legal career Glenn received multiple American Jurisprudence awards. Glenn was a Certified Elder Law Attorney of the National Elder Law Foundation. He was a staff member of Cape Cod Planning and Economic Development Commission from 1975-76, and of the Estate Planning Tax Department for Coopers and Lybrand from 1980-81. Glenn began his legal career on Cape Cod as an associate of Roberts and Farrell of West Chatham before being named partner in 1984. He left Roberts, Farrell, and Rowley in 1997 to begin his solo practice until his retirement in 2013.
Glenn was a founding member of the Brewster Conservation Trust, and a past member of the Brewster Historical District Committee. He was also a past member of the advisory boards for the May Institute and the Cape Cod Writers Center, Inc.
Glenn enjoyed traveling and was an avid writer. He wrote weekly columns on estate planning for The Cape Codder, The Enterprise, The Register, and others.
Glenn is survived by his wife Carol Ann (Saul) Rowley, son Brewster Westgate Rowley, and step-son James William Merrill.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday January 22 at First Parish Brewster, 1969 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
